Have you ever walked into a class, sat down, got all of your stuff ready, waited patiently until class began, watched as a host of eager minds filters through the door, and eagerly anticipated the beginning to a new educational experience? And then as everyone else has gotten ready and the professor walks in and says, “I hope you’re all here for Astrophysics 498”. Suddenly, you realize that you not in the right place and then follows the attempted graceful, but in all actuality awkward, departure in search of where you do belong.
Well if you’ve made it here chances are, you do belong. How do you know? See if you fit the bill for a progressive and innovative educator…
Are you creative and like to engage all senses in the learning experience?
Do you bring excitement and enthusiasm to your work?
Are you a charismatic and strong leader?
Do you want to reach out and educate others in a way which transforms the way they think about learning?
Are you the teacher, therapist, consultant, trainer, professor, or business owner who gets others excited about meeting their personal goals as well as community goals?
Do you seek out those that do not learn in traditional ways and encourage them to succeed through your use of fully engaging techniques?
If you said yes to most of these questions, then you, my friend, are in the right place, at least philisophically. The Association for Experiential Education seeks to make “a more just and compassionate world by transforming education”. And with your contributions, you too are part of that vision.
